How Liver Cleansing Can Transform Your Life & Health!
When it comes to your health, there’s no better way to hit the refresh button on your well-being than with a cleanse. One of the most important cleanses you can do for your body is a liver cleanse. Your liver is your largest internal organ, and the body’s primary organ for detoxification. As such, it constantly processes and filters toxins.
Christina D. wanted to make some changes to her health, and she thought a liver cleanse might be a great place to begin. "I wanted a way to jumpstart my weight loss," she says. For people who can’t seem to lose those stubborn pounds, or whose digestion may be a bit sluggish, liver cleansing can get things moving again.
Environmental toxins you are exposed to can build up in the liver, bogging it down and preventing it from working as well as it should. Toxin build-up may even cause liver injury. A liver cleanse helps remove the toxic build-up that may be getting in the way of excellent health.[1]
How Do You Know You Need a Liver Cleanse?
For some, doing a liver cleanse is a way to ease the body into dietary changes. Not only did Christina want to lose weight, but she also hoped liver cleansing might help undo some of the damage she may have done to her liver in the past. "I used to drink a lot of alcohol," she explains. Alcohol is hard on the liver, and heavy drinking can contribute to the development of cirrhosis, fatty liver, and other liver diseases. Taking a break from alcohol can help you maintain a healthy liver.[2]
Alcohol is but one of many substances that can damage your liver. Even breaking down high-fat, high-sugar foods or medications taxes the liver. People who eat a lot of processed food or who do not eat a diet rich in organic fruits and vegetables can benefit from cleansing.
What are the other signs you may be ready for a liver detox? The following symptoms indicate your liver isn’t performing as well as it could.
- Occasional constipation
- Bloating
- Intestinal upset
- Heartburn
- Bad breath
- Mood swings
- Low energy
- Discomfort after eating
- Fullness or dull pain under the right rib cage
Picking the Right Cleanse
Christina did a ton of research before choosing Global Healing’s Liver Cleanse Program™. "I was looking for a reputable company," she says. Having used and loved other Global Healing supplements, she knew the liver cleansing program would meet her needs.
The goal of cleansing is to remove toxins from the liver, not add more. In other words, you’ll want a cleanse product that uses high-quality, organic ingredients. In her research, Christina discovered that Global Healing independently sources every ingredient in their products, and a third party verifies them for quality and potency.
You’ll want to make sure any cleanse you choose does not contain harsh laxatives like Senna or Cascara. And at the other end of the spectrum, you don’t want weak and ineffective herbal tonics. Extracts made with alcohol are advised against, since alcohol is harmful to the liver.
Global Healing uses proprietary Raw Herbal Extract™ technology to make the best organic supplements available. Raw Herbal Extracts use plant-based glycerin derived from organic mustard seed, which preserves the herbs’ vital energy without taxing the liver.
Your liver cleanse products should be free from:
- Soy
- Gluten
- Toxic additives
- Harsh chemicals
- Dairy
- GMOs
- Alcohol
Performing any sort of cleanse can be challenging, and you may need support. Find a company that offers superior customer satisfaction experience without having to pay extra.
Liver detoxification is a very important process, so you probably shouldn’t trust random information on the internet that may not be reliable or specific to you. From her past experience, Christina knew Global Healing had stellar customer service. Not many companies have a highly trained customer satisfaction team to answer all your specific questions.
The Liver Cleansing Experience
Once you’ve chosen a quality product, it’s time to start cleansing!
The First 4 Days
For the first four days of the Global Healing Liver Cleanse Program, you’ll focus on how you eat. Light and healthy meals consisting of plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables are the way to go during this initial phase of the cleanse.
Include cruciferous vegetables, like Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and cabbage, as well as beets, avocados, and onions. Citrus fruits, especially grapefruit, are also great during a liver cleanse. Make sure to drink plenty of purified water.
During a cleanse, it’s best to enhance your water with liver-supporting herbs, such as the superior blends found in Livatrex® and Turmeric Raw Herbal Extract.[1] These herbs — including milk thistle, chanca piedra, borututu bark, chicory, and others — help your liver break down and kick out the harmful toxins.[1]
To give your liver the break it needs, avoid eating hard-to-process foods like meat, gluten, dairy, and refined sugar. You’ll also want to cut caffeine and alcohol during the cleanse. You should avoid other supplements during the cleanse. If you are taking medications, talk to your healthcare provider.
The Healing Crisis
A day or two into the cleanse, you may find yourself feeling not-so-hot. You might even experience symptoms, like fever, fatigue, or nausea, that make you wonder if you’re coming down with something. Don’t worry; this is a perfectly normal part of the cleansing process.
Known as a healing crisis, these "side effects" occur when the toxins in your liver start to come loose and circulate throughout your body. The good news? Although it may be unpleasant, that yucky feeling is usually a sign that the cleanse is working.
The Flush
After you’ve spent four days eating healthy and staying hydrated, it’s time to prepare for the liver flush. On the evening of the fifth day of a liver cleanse, you will drink an Epsom salt solution, followed by drinking six ounces of olive oil. This may be the most difficult part of the cleanse, but the most effective for purging the liver of toxins and stones.
Christina liked how Global Healing’s Liver Cleanse Program came with everything she needed. "[It] came with the olive oil and Epsom salt right in the package," she says. "[This was] very convenient."
Immediately after drinking the olive oil, lie down on your right side, with your knees pulled up to your chest for 30 minutes. This helps minimize nausea, allowing the oil to get through the stomach to where it needs to go. After the 30 minutes pass, stretch out and go to sleep.
When you wake up the next day, you will take six capsules of Oxy-Powder®, an oxygenated form of magnesium. This ensures you purge everything from your system. "I was SHOCKED at the amount of [unwanted debris] that I passed, not knowing that I had any to begin with," says Christina.
"Don’t overdo it," during this final phase of the cleansing process, Christina advises. You’ll want to take it easy as your body releases accumulated toxins from your liver. You will likely spend time on the toilet on day six, so stay close to home.
After a Cleanse
"I feel great!" says Christina. Since she did that first one, she has done three additional cleanses. "Each time I have lost eight to ten pounds. I don't feel as bogged down or lethargic anymore, and have ample energy."
The cleanse also eliminated her cravings for sugar and carbs. "This was just the reset I needed to get me back on track."
To maintain your post-cleansing glow (and to keep your body from getting overwhelmed), continue eating meals that are on the light side. Gradually add other foods to your diet. Ideally, add one new food type every couple of days. That way, you can keep track of how your body reacts. For example, if you eat wheat, and immediately get digestion issues, you can identify that you may be sensitive to gluten.
For best results, you should shift to a plant-based diet and continue to avoid processed, sugary foods. For even better results, perform two to three successive liver cleanses in a row, with a week in between. You can do them on your own, or as part of Global Healing’s Complete Body Cleanse Program™.
You’ve completed your cleanse! Now it’s time to reap the rewards.
Top Benefits of Liver Cleansing
Just as many people don’t realize how many toxins we come into contact with daily, you’ll likely be surprised by the impact removing these toxins from your liver can have on your whole body. Cleansing can also help you kick start new, healthy habits.
Christina wanted to try fasting, and the liver cleanse helped smooth the transition. "I found that doing a liver cleanse before an extended fast is key," says Christina, "I don’t have any cravings for bad foods afterward."
Other benefits of liver cleansing include:
Improved Immunity
Your liver performs many essential immune system tasks.[3] A liver that’s functioning well supports a healthy immune system.
Enhanced Energy
When your liver and digestive system are healthy and functioning properly, your body can better process the nutrients that give you energy.[4] Instead of dragging yourself through the day, you’ll tackle tasks with a spring in your step.
Balanced Metabolism
One of the liver’s main jobs is to break down fats and produce bile that contains liver enzymes used for digestion. Cleansing the liver can contribute to a more balanced metabolism. The effect will be most pronounced if you commit to eating healthy foods afterward, versus going back to unhealthy eating patterns that will, once again, bog down your liver.
Sharpened Brain Function
Did you know that your digestive system produces the neurotransmitter serotonin?[5] Serotonin is also known as the happiness hormone. When you eliminate toxins from your liver and digestive system, you can better support the development of this nervous system communicator. Most people report feeling less sluggish and even happier afterward!
Refreshed Appearance
When your body is functioning well on the inside, it shows on the outside. Cleansing the liver enables nutrients to flow more freely through the body, improving the ability of cells to regenerate.[1, 6] The result? A fresher, more youthful appearance that shows on your face and body.
Points to Remember
Your liver is your body’s main detoxifying organ, and toxic buildup in the liver can prevent it from performing as well as it should. People who neglect this organ can end up with liver damage, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
To keep your liver in tip-top shape, consider doing a liver cleanse. The benefits of cleansing extend beyond the liver. If you’re feeling sluggish, backed-up, or low energy, a liver cleanse may help you hit "reset" on your health. When you do a liver cleanse, not only can you eliminate unwanted debris, but you may experience improved immunity, a more balanced metabolism, enhanced energy levels, and more.
If you’d like to kick off the new year by hitting "refresh" on your health, a liver cleanse is the perfect place to start, and Global Healing’s Liver Cleanse Program is the ultimate place to start.
